 Hello fellow Viffers! It has been over two decades since I (stupidly) sold my 1987 RWB 700 VFR. But I am back. Rode my beautiful red '01 800 home today. I look forward to learning a lot about the bike and the great people who ride them! My bike is completely stock with 8200 miles. What are the top "must have" mods that you would recommend? Thanks in advance for the info!!
Welcome! I am sure you can get an ear(eye)full about mods for that gen from others. Throw up some pics of your beauty!!
Nice Beemer, Shorty! I will get some pics up ASAP. She has a little pavement rash I need to touch up. I'll do a before and after series!
Hey VFRShorty, Question. How did you get such a nice hires shot of your beemer included in your post. I am new to forums and could not get anything nearly that hi res posted as my avatar. Thanks for the help!
Nope, hit the home tab scroll down the info is in the lower rh corner. Thanks I got lucky and found her locally, runs like a champ.
Welcome aboard! Great choice on the '01. Don't kick yourself too much on selling your '87. Stuff happens. At least you came to your sense and are now back on a VFR. As for the mods, there are lots you can do. I'll let the folks familiar with the 5th gen VFR to chime in with some good advice.
I got to say by default a required "mod" is to install the VFRNess from wiremybike.com Those bikes are known for having failing regulator/rectifiers and if you don't take care of that problem you'll find yourself stranded with a dead battery. Next on the mod list is to replace the stock seat, it's decent for a short commute but if you plan on riding all day it's mandatory to either upgrade to Sargent or corbin. You can get a good deal on sargent seats from sandhillpowersports.com
Thanks Joey! I learned on my first 150 mile ride that the seat had to go!!! Didn't know about the harness. Is this easy to replace?
yes:thumbsup: back to being a biker :thumbsup:been through your pain no bike in garage:frown: it just don't fell right....
Welcom aboard, As Joey said 1st the seat then put some tune on her Staintune...........................
Roger Affirmative Uhhuh on the seat. I went to the site and requested price info (sargent seats) but had no luck . Any idea how much green it will take to make by butt sing (instead of cry)?
If I remember correctly it will be in the $320-$330 range. You might be able to find a group buy and purchase for around $300 if you are lucky. If you got an extra $1100 laying around the Staintune Exhaust system would make a nice present for yourself. If you do long distances you should also consider a throttle lock to help with hand fatigue. Regards, Rollin
