The major tire makers have websites and plugins for various bikes, styles of riding and size recommendations. Tire pricing varies. Some online stores now have free shipping. Your dealership will likely charge you MSRP and toss in a labor charge for pulling the wheels off your bike. Many charge /hr shop rate with a hour minimum for a job that really only takes a few minutes.
Another vote for the Avon Storm ST tires - I like them and others should like what feels good to them (there are other good tires out there just not for me). The Avon Storm ST tires are a great all around touring tire thati s good on groved (metal grates), and broken up cement roads and other hazzards. I like the Perilli Diablo tires also, but what made me go with the Avon Strom STs is the road hazzard warranty. I ride year round and need a tire that warms up quickly and has good traction in the rain. I am not knocking any other tire, but the Avon Storm STs have served me well. I had my Avon Strom ST tires for a little over 2 weeks before I got a screw in the rear tire. I bought the tires locally and went back where I bought them - Avon honored the warranty and I got a new tire (3days). I also run the Avon Venom X tires on my old (really need to sell it) Suzuki Intruder 800. The only bad thing I have to say is Michelin is not as great as they are cracked up to be and they need to offer some kind of road hazzard warranty. When it comes to batteries and tires, the manufacturers rip off bikers bigtime. Just my 2 1/2 cents.
