I am sure there is a thread on this subject already but... Looking for some options to tie down the bike. I will be loading it in a Toyota Tacoma (6ft. box). I have installed bed mounted tie downs (front and back) but have not yet decided on how I am going to get it secured without the straps rubbing on the fairings. Has anyone tried using a wheel chalk on the front tire (secured by bed tie downs) and then using straps on bottom of forks (thinking just above top caliper bolt), then compressing the suspension from the rear (using frame or passenger foot peg brackets). In my mind this should work but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have used soft ties on the bars, but it is practically impossible to keep the one strap off the fairing. Wrapping a microfiber towel around the strap has always been how I get around it...

    +1 to Davis.

I have an extended cab Colorado (come with eye hooks front and rear) and use the soft straps on the bars . I have never had an issue with the tie downs rubbing the fairing on either bike I've put back there. The hook is just high enough that it clears.

Microfober or nice, clean terrycloth towel and regular straps works just fine for me. Although I am also thinking of going the wheel chock route in my trailer (converted rear half of a pickup). Still with bar straps, though.

All we need is for Stosh to post some pictures, and we'll be set.
