As usual, a pretty easy thing to do. ...though I think the vibrations are actually worse on the throttle grip now (you have to remove the internal bar weight to install them).

I was also surprised by how much the ring-shaped insert that goes over the bar bumped out the OEM grip (see pics). Not a big deal, and I'm changing the grips soon anyway, but worth noting.

I got the shorter version as I didn't want the added width while splitting through LA traffic, and I think they look great!

I installed the smaller version last year on a 6 gen. They also looked a little funky untill I replaced the grips with something a litttle fatter (Pro-Grip 700 somethings). At that point the microphone - sex toy shape was thankfully lost. I chose the nickel finish, but after seeing yours, I'm wishing I had gone with the black. I should mention that on a 6 gen, bar to hand vibration was reduced. Grips may have had something to do with that.

Thanks guys. No real "gotcha's" to speak of. I'm hopeful that the new grips will alleviate some of the bump near the end of the grip, as well as the vibrations; the stock grips are really crappy in my opinion!

    Update:

I installed Symtec heated grip elements and swapped on some BMW grips at the same time. ...SOOOOO much better, comfort wise. The OEM grips suck, period!

I did have issues removing the Throttlemeister bar weight on the clutch side, as the bar insert kept turning and I couldn't loosen it all. The result was having to drill off the bolt head, then use the "key" pice that goes in the bar weight to lock the insert into place, holding it secure with a vice-grip, and using another to turn out the remains of the bolt. ...luckily, I still had the OEM bolt with the OEM bar weights in a box, so I was able to use that to reinstall the bar weight.

Here are some pics of the BMW grips installed:

As I said, night and day improvement in comfort, and these BMW grips tend to last a long, long time. They also transmit the heat from the heating elements nicely!

...and just a random shot from yesterday's ride out around Lake Isabella.

I'm going to try, but I have a 4 day ride the 2nd weekend after that and it may be a bit much for the wife to take. ...worst case, I suppose, is I make a day trip out of it and slab back in the evening. :)
