I had the NEP Throttle Lock but could not get it to work properly. It would hold for just a short period of time and then gradually loose it's grip. I tried some different things such as using a dremel to sand the sides down some, but still couldn't get it work properly. So, after hearing all the praise of the Throttlemeister, and the fact that you can get heavier ends, I made an executive decision and purchased straight from Throttlemeister. You can't order online, but they do have a 800 number. Person I spoke with was very informative, and I recieved the order in 4 days. Throttlemeister - Home
When I examined the bar ends, I immediately noticed a HUGE difference in weight, and the quality is top notch. The instructions are great to, with plenty of pictures and enough detail to get you through the install.
One other thing I'll give them credit for is that you receive everything you need to do the mod. For example, you receive a tube of red loctite, and a nifty little tool to help you remove the throttle side inner weight.
The only slight adjustment I had to make was to take a straight edge razor and trim the end of my grips (aftermarket Pro Grips). The left side install is even easier since it's just a matter of removing the oem bar end and installing the TM Bar End. I've played around with the Throttle Lock and it has a lot more grip (turning it down to lock). I'll give an update after riding tomorrow. Y2KViffer!!, you need to get these buddy.

    Follow Up...

Rode about 120 miles today to view the leaves changing colors in the mountains and to test the newly installed Throttlemeister. I must say that the Throttlemeister works great. Basically set it and forget it. I also noticed the heavier ends cut out the vibration I would get when the rpms were high in gears 1 and 2.
    So, I would definetly recommend.
Here are a few pics I took today of my ride in the mountains.

They are nice, used mine around town to freek people out and make them wonder how I am keeping speed with no hands. Used it on the only out of town trip, trick was to set it for the speed limet going up hill and when the road leveled out I would be going about 5 over the limet but not to bad. It would be nice to have something like a car that keeps the speed the same. But oh well im sure it's mostly for resting the wrist.

How easy is it to actually lock the throttle?

I currently have a worn out Universal Throttle Lock from Vista Cruise and I enjoy the flick of the thumb switch but the throttle meister seems a bit tricky with the rotating of the bar end?

yes, but how well do they work? I'm already dissatisfied with the universal one from Vista Cruise(but my bike had 27k miles on it and I'm not sure when it was installed) because it won't stay locked anymore. The throttle always slips.

So I'm dragging up an old thread... I know...

But I'm wondering how to remove the throttle side inner weight without one of those handy tools provided by ThrottleMeister?

I bought a Kaoko throttle lock, and they just mention using some small screwdrivers to 'pinch' the spring to remove the inner weight... but I'm thinking that's for another bike. I also saw someone mention I need to pull off the throttle tube in order to get at it - which involves pulling apart a lot of the throttle assembly itself.

    Any tips? Thanks!

On the tube there is a small hole which the clip from the bar weight lock into. Use a small screwdiver press down on the clip and pull out the weight, they do have resistant better if you can place it on the vise or have someone pull while you press down the clip. Good luck

Hey thanks for the quick reply!

So do I have to pull the actual throttle tube off itself? Or can I leave it on...?

I already have the bar-end off and I was trying to get that spring/clip out, but couldn't quite figure out the way... I saw on another forum some pictures of this little hole in the actual bar, which makes me worried I have to pull the whole throttle tube off in order to get at it...

    Thanks again!

Ha, ya I suppose I should. I am now signing up at all the bike forums now that I have one!

    EDIT

Eff it, took it to the stealership. $50 later, it's installed.
