I've been trying to figure this out for two weeks and I'm getting nowhere. I've got too much free play in the throttle. I adjusted the nut by the handlebars and when I did that the throttle stuck open around 6000rpms. Tried adjusting the other end, same problem. I played with both of them until the throttle wasn't sticking anymore and the free play felt ok. Now, it seems that as I ride the throttle free play increases. From about 1/4" to almost a 1/2" or more. I'm not sure whether I need to look at replacing the cable or not. I lubricated the cable, grip (to make sure it wasn't the grip that was sticking), and everything I could find around there that was moving. I'm stumped at this point. I've checked and the tightening nuts haven't moved at all. Any thoughts as to why it get's looser as I ride?

Sounds to me like the cable is shot, If the nut is tight that keeps it from backing out, and it still loosens up when you ride.

Finally got everything sorted out and woke up nice and early Sunday morning to go for a 110 mile ride through the islands. I tried out a few different mounts for the GoPro while I was at it. I like the windshield mount but the Chest mount is to low. Only films the controls and not what's in front. Here's the result:

The nuts down at the bracket on the carbs is for coarse adjustment, and sleeve up top is for fine adjustment. Unless the cables are 100% properly rouited, getting consistant results is tough.

be sure to check while engine is running and you turn the bars both ways fully to see that there is no increase in idle speed.
