Went to head off to work this morning and zzzzt! head lights went out. Tried a couple of options, low beam, high beam, bike on and off, no avail. Got home today and checked the fuse, it's good to go. Tested power to the back of the headlights, nothing. For some reason they came on once while I was messing around up front, but then they went out again and I wasn't able to get them to come back. Now before I rip the entire upper fairing off to get to the relay's can anyone provide me with some insight as to what else it may be? Maybe there is a common issue I'm not aware of?

    HELP!

more than likely a corroded terminal on the light. It's no biggie (skill wise) to take off the top cowl and inspect, clean and reinstall (with dielectric grease) to prevent in the future. Thats where I would look

    Figured it out!

After an exhaustive search for a short, checking the relays, checking fuses ect. it was the starter switch. When you start your bike the relay automatically clicks the light off to ensure proper power to the starter. If you brush the starter button while the bike is running you can screw the cycle up and effectively set the relay backwards. If this happens your lights will not come on. I figured this out after studying the wiring schematic. Walked over to the bike flipped the starter switch about half way with the bike running and reset the cycle. Baddabing Baddaboom, lights on, bike running!

    glad you found it.

this exact problem is common across the range of Honda 'cycles, but the problem is in the starter switch.
are u sure you actually have a headlight relay??
