I'm thinking of trading my 1kf for a 2nd gen 750f. I have a few reasons for wanting to trade, mainly for gear driven cams, fully faired I had a hit for a showroom condition 87' VFR700F2. What's the big difference between the 700f2 and the 750f? The specs I've seen for the 750 preach 106 HP, and the specs for the 700f2 say around 76 HP. That seems a little low considering the 500 we have is supposed to be 66 HP. Can anyone supply me any info?

Good questions!! I have no answers. I can say, I love my ole '86 750. I don't think you'll be dissapointed if you make the switch.

I adore my 1kF, but it's tall, heavy, and the suspension doesn't suit my riding style as much. Love my V4s, love the ergonomics (minus the seat height, I'm 5'3 with a 29-30in inseam) love the balance of power and torque, pretty much everything... I've just been lusting after a 2nd Gen for a while now.

A year later, and I decided to go with a 97 VFR... And honestly I have no regrets. I miss owning something as hard to find as the 1kF, but the VFR is much more for me.

The 2nd gen's improvements are everywhere. Honda's huge design rework to improve their earlier model resulted in an example of motoring excellence, probably #1 for it's time. Great design and build quality. Better everything over gen 1. Search some 1986 contemporary 'cycke magazine reviews and comparos for experts' insights and opinions when new. You need to ride to appreciate.

Also appreciate Honda's continued evolution into the 4 gens, bikes 2X better than gen 2s, and again, you need to ride to know. My beloved and admired '97 is the last nearly-modern bike i could ever afford or want.:congratulatory:

But, in some ways a gen 2 feels a bit more a lighter sportbike than a gen 4, imho.

Every time I get on an 86 or 87, i just seem to appreciate the whole experience more... they just seem to make the right noises and vibrations. Suspension... not so much. But nothing matches the noise of an 86/87 on full honk... just MYho. But I just adore the 94-97... the last of the true VFRs. Rode plenty... Still want one.

That's the thing about gen 4's; they're almost too smooth, too quiet, too refined so they seem to have less character than earlier gens !! More like a soul-less appliance than a rorty traditional motorcycle.

Not a bad thing at all for most. Honda actually exceed earlier notions of motorcycle excellence.
