Hello, My name is Jim and I recently got my second VFR, a '92 750. I had an '87 VFR700 about 15 years ago, and then had a succession of CBRs, mostly 600s but also a 929. About 8 yeears ago I decided to see if I could get an old CB750 that I'd picked up running, and that was the beginning of my Cafe Racer construction avocation. I've since built about a dozen CB750 Cafe Racers (That's the CR part of my handle) and I still have two of them, but I've always kept a modern, or at least fairly modern bike as well. At first it was my CBR929, then a Yamaha FZ1, and just recently my "new" VFR750. It had no muffler when I got it, and the chain needed replacement, but except for those problems it was in good shape, and it runs beautifully. In the Spring I'll refinish it and probably replace the tires and it'll be as good as new. Not bad for an initial outlay of only $725!
Naah, Long, that's just a representative dad/son behaving in a manner which most wives would find annoying. My old Avatar had my son sitting on an AMA superbike during the crowd walk at Road Atlanta's race this spring. Now back to the topic. :focus: :biggrin: I want to see those CB 750 cafe racers! :clap2:
Let's see if I can figger out how to add these pics. brb Well, that didn't seem too hard, if it worked! The black #17 was my first true cafe racer, and it had an 836 kit. Sold to a young guy in Chicago. The silver #41 is one of the ones I've kept. I really like riding it, and get a lot of positive comments on it. The one that looks like a Norton sold on eBay in July to a guy in Japan. I think it's really the nicest one I've done, at least so far, and the white and black one just sold to a guy up in Caribou, Maine. As you can see, I'm partial to red frames! The Norton replica and my #41 are using Hondamatic wheels. The gold ones on the Norton replica were taken apart and powdercoated, then reassembled and trued. The ones on my bike are in good shape, so I didn't powdercoat them. Hope these pics come through. Thanks for the requests. Jim
