My much loved 86 VFR700 of 25 years and 83k miles ownership has suddenly started pouring copious quantities of oil out of the right side casting hole in the front head My guess is that it is terminal for the head and costwise the bike as these holes appear to be blind and are on both sides of the heads. Any ideas out there?

I was looking at my heads on my 83 and there is a "hole" about dead center in line with the spark plug on each side, is that what you are talking about? The holes appear to be channels in to the spark plug wells. (Don't know how different the heads would be on the 86 compared to the 83,84 & 85) Don't see any reason to leak there, I would pull the right front plug wire off and inspect.

    Photo would help.

Allyance nailed it, probably just a valve cover gasket puking oil oot and draining oot the hole.

Right first time guys. Last job I did before putting it to bed for winter was valve clearances. Used Permatex Anaerobic sealer instead of RTV and it obviously wasn't as sticky as the RTV. Checked it all and seemed good till I took it for a ride this summer. Thanks all

    Partzilla.com should have proper gaskets.
