That time of year again. I will be out in the Black Hills for the bike rally (week before actual BIKE WEEK), and was wondering if any other VFRs were planning on going?
Spoke to a person at the airport while waiting to board a plane and they said that they went the week or two before Sturgis. I rode by Daytona this year during Bike Week, this is just a subjective observation mind you, but why would you want to put yourself into a crappy riding envirnment like Sturgis or Daytona during all that shit? I go to Daytona, and I drive a cage there, its just easier. Would love to get up to the Black Hills one day though...just not during Sturgis...
We've been up in the area quite a few times, but never during, or even near, bike week. We talked to several residents who leave for Bike Week.
I am actually driving with the family up to Yellowstone next week...leaving Thursday the 25th and coming back on august 2nd. I will be on I90 driving right through there, lol.
Why the hell would you want to go to a place that will be infested with Harleydoods acting like wankers, with their obnoxiously loud exhausts and their wrinkly, saggy-breasted, middle-aged wives in tow?
Wow, everyone has been pretty harsh so I apologize if I came across that way. I really do like the area and stop up there every couple years to ride, but even when it isn't bike week the riding can be very slow because of the cruiser element. Big bike rallies are not really my thing. When I see a crowd I usually head the other way. :biggrin:
The first two years I went out there was during the bike week. The last four times I've gone have been the week before. Most of the sweet HarleyDoods dont show up till Thursday or Friday, and I leave on Saturday. If your on the road early its all clear, the HarleyDoods dont clog up the roads till the afternoon.
