Hi all have read a bit about Garman and Tom Tom units, below some photos & info on the Strike GPS Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kits, Motorcycle Bluetooth, Parrot, Blueant and more @ Strike. Another option for us in Aus & NZ. Pro's: easy for the moderately handy to install; mounts solidly on RAM arm; easy to use with fingers or a pointer (good predictive text input); weatherproof; track logging to Google Earth; quick satellite acquisition (much better than my Navman). Cons: Pricey (not much chance of getting it less than the $AU499 RRP); on/off switch impossible with gloves; touchscreen not brilliant with gloves; "speedo" dial could be bigger; "anti-glare" screen hood a joke. Mounting it was a couple of hours of fun at my mechanics workshop one Saturday. I got the fairing on & off, he hardwired the GPS into the appropriate headlight wires. RAM ball mount went on tank bolt (replaced with a slightly longer one). Drilled 1" RAM ball mount through to take the bolt. Replaced the ball plate on the GPS mount itself with a RAM 1 inch; had to use slightly longer S/S threads, nuts & split washers. Have a 3" arm for normal use, and a 5" arm for when the tank bag is on. No vibration problems. Overall, am happy with how it works. Strange that all the drivers think that it's weird that I have a GPS, when their car does... Usability with gloves & value for money the only question marks. Call it 7/10. Hope this helps/inspires anyone to explore a bit more. regards M
