2007 Stock exhaust cans / baffles - needs some muscle ...

Have a new 2007 - has anyone taken the stock cans apart and removed the baffles? I like the stock look it just needs some sound. Ideas?

Yeah I would like to do the same thing as well - but from what Ive heard, the 06 and 07 cans have a higher ratio mix of Magnesium to Aluminium and tend to start "burning up" when you re-weld them.

Anyone else with a 06-07 had any problems? :suspicious:

i have an '02 and just finished gutting the stock cans.it was easy and the bike sounds great now.i removed the endcaps & heatshields, and simply cut the ends of the cans off with a fine toothed hacksaw.(i cut straight through, about an inch from the end, just behind the factory weld.)i then grabbed the baffles & packing material with vice grips and slid the entire assembly out in one piece.as far as welding goes...i took the cans to a pro welder,as the walls of the pipes are very thin. bike sounds good but i'll have to wait until spring to road test....tons of great info on this site if you look around

was a simple mod on my 05..a bit louder with a diff kind of sound..u might like it or hate it...:) kinda tinnny...but cheap...as for the welding..I just welded the ends back on with my cheapo stick welder..no big deal.....just cut the ends off on the welds..more meat to weld back on...then the pia is chopping out the baffles with a long chisel...wear gloves..:)

this and the other vfr site are full of info and pics on that mod...

I like the stock look too, but next time I do it I will just weld on some chopper mufflers instead and put the covers over them..didnt really enjoy the sound debaffled myself..

    enjoy!
