Starting To Paint/Tuneup

This weekend im going to tear down the bike and spend that week painting it.

Just wondering what kinda stuff i should do to tune it up while its aparts

Oil/filters/air filter etc anything else i should check/do while its apart and easy to get too?

as long as you have the tank/plastics off, would change the airfilter, plugz and do a Motul engine wash. Inspect and replace as required all hoses, lube chain.

 

New spark plugs would be relatively easy at this time, too.

 

Tear Down

Ditch the PAIR system and plug the holes in block and cap off unused hoses.

Don't forget to lube all the cables too.

A novel idea, but ditching the PAIR system on a NON-FI bike is pointless, IMHO.

I had considered it on my '96 (4G), but after not being able to find one person on this site or VFRD who could see a benefit, I left it alone.

The only thing that the PAIR system does negatively in my mind is get in the way when removing/installing the carbs.
