    Hi
I have an 84 Vf 750 F and she is a great ride. I am having problems starting the bike at random. It is like having a flat battery, but then I can come back to the bike half an hour later ( hot or cold) and it will start easily and motor turn over no problems.

I took it to a auto electrician who cleaned the starter connections but this has not rectified the problem.
Any clues on this and are the starters easy to access. i assume you have to take off the lower radiator to access??
    Any help appreciated

PS they are bloody heavy to push start :)

PPS Any solutions to the old sore neck proble, After a days ride my neck hurts as my head is always bent backwards to see the road. Longer handle bars ??

not sure on your other problems, but I agree with your PS, and as far as the neck thing, I think longer handlebars would help. I don't notice any neck soreness at all after riding. I do get some lower back soreness, but I think it's because I hunch my back instead of sitting straight.

As for your intermittent starting problem, I wonder if the button on the bars is making good contact when you push it. Did your mech check the relay? Maybe a loose connection somewhere?

On your sore neck, I think the 1st gen model riding position is leaned more forward than it is now. Some bar risers (if available) would porbably help you. Also, how heavy is your helmet? I have 3 helmets now. I have not weighed any of them, but my vega feels like it is probably the lightest, my Fulmer is next in line being a little heavier than the Vega, and my newest is a Bell and it feels a little on the heavy side. I willsee if I canget soem weights on them and list them here for reference.

Great thanks for that. I will check the relay as there was no mention of that when i picked the bike up. i have found an old post on this forum which tells of a guy with the same problem and he carried around a 8mill spanner to start his bike by shorting the relay. I take it the relay is the little black unit beside the battery with two plastic looking black covers over the threaed bolts??
I will try for risers for the handle bars. that would help
    Cheers from down under
