Went for a ride this evening and on the homestretch both gauges went to zero. Bike was fine other than that, still ran normal, head lights stayed on. Except the two gauges went down and would occasionally bounce back up about a 1/4 way simultaniously, like they were synchronised. This went away after about 20 to 30 seconds after I noticed it. Any ideas what this could be? Something to worry about or keep an eye out for?

    Thanks.

Sounds like the beginning of the ole R/R failure. I suggest testing it, as well as checking your electrical connections and grounds for good, clean, tight, fits.

Allright...did some checking. Battery seems fairly weak, not sure if the battery is old or just not charging. The R/R seems to put out a maximum of 13.5v anywhere above 2,500rpm. It won't go higher than that.
As far as I can tell none of the connections are corroded, they are actually in excellent shape. Not sure what else to look for. Maybe I'll do a quick load test on the battery.

    Thanks.

Mine died completely. It was a blown fuse. Go ahead and change the fuse for chits and giggles.

Maybe a loose ground wire or a wire grounding itself.

Just bought a new R/R from RMStator, installed it without too many hassles. Had to drill one new hole since the new unit was smaller. The connectors were right except for the clip that holds the connector together on the stator connector was reversed, no biggy though. Unit runs pretty hot but so did the last one. Wire size is smaller to I'll have to keep an eye on that for a bit.
    Puts out around 13.8-14 Volts
