Just purchased a new Rukka suit, and I find that every time I brake I slip up to the tank, most annoying!!!!!!! I know it's not helped by my Sergeant seat, however I am looking for a way out of the problem, has anyone any ideas. At the moment I have a piece of carpet webbing (non sllp type) on the seat the only trouble with this is it absorbes water when it's raining, and then I go to cold bum, I've done 2,000 miles in the suit now, and it hasn't improved. I'm still laughing about the title. The simplest fix would be to squeeze the tank with your legs when coming to a stop. Otherwise, what about attaching some leather to the seat with the unfinished side up? You could treat it with something to make it waterproof. Action
you might consider some Stomp Grip tank pads. that's what they're made for. i don't know if they makem for VFR's but they also offer universal pads you can cut on your own. also Tech Spec USA tank grips are removable and reusable, very nice.
I put stomp grip pads on my bike recently and love them. It dosen't take much leg pressure to hold you in place. I feel really planted on the bike. I've been practicing hard front braking with only one hand on the bars to get into the habit of holding myself in place without pushing against the bars.
E bay lists a passenger anti slip film for the seat and I'm sure you can mod it to fit. HONDA VFR 800 INTERCEPTOR ANTISLIP PASSENGER SEAT COVER:eBay Motors (item 110399192962 end time Jun-11-09 18:30:00 PDT)
Not sure, but the e-bay item seems to be about the same as any "non-slip" cabinet or drawer liner. Its the type of thing where you can cut a section, place it on the dashboard of your car, and then place cell phone or similar items and they stay put. It can be used under carpet runners (in a hallway or such) to keep things in place there. I know I can get this stuff at Walmart for about 1/3 of the price anywhere else. Comes in a long roll that might be 12 or 15 inches wide by 3 (??) feet long. Sears sells it for lining the tool chest, but they are much more expensive. After that windbag explanation of mine, I don't know if it would keep a rider in place. LOL, sorry.
