Good afternoon all, I've just spent the day giving the new bike a bit of a scrub down, including overhaul of the rear caliper, whilst I wait for my new RR. I noticed that the OEM slip on exhaust was joined to the aftermarket SS headers with some sort of cement type material. I've scrubbed this all away, as it was old and brittle. The exhaust however no longer has a complete seal, despite the compression of the jubilee clip. Is there an agreed/recommended product for this? If not then I'll go for something like Holt's firegum. Thanks in advance
Just an FYI, Delkevic includes a red RTV type material for that purpose. There are a few products out there, just Google muffler cement.
The stock Honda muffler has a fairly large inside diameter opening compared to the header collector outside diameter. This space between the two should be filled with a muffler gasket. Aftermarket exhausts cans like Delkevic usually use a link pipe with a smaller inside diameter that slips just over the header exit, in that case high temp RTV silicone is fine. If you intend to use the Honda muffler, get a new gasket. See below photo..
