I have a question for you electrical guru's. On the way home from work this morning my sidestand light came on, while moving at 55 mph on the road. I made sure it was fully up and not partially extended. No change, light still on. When I got home, with the bike running, I put the sidestand down, engine dies, as it should. Stand up, bike runs, ligh it on. Check "continuity" according to the manual, though it was pretty vague (actually it did not say at all) on what numbers I should get or how to set my meter. Pic in manual shows ohms. At the connector (green) with the stand down, red lead on green and black lead on yellow/black, I got 12.8 (might have been -12.8), wththe stand up and the red lead now on the green/white and the black on the yellow/black, I get a reading of 1.*. The switch works as it should, just the damn light is on all the time? Any ideas?

    TIA

Multiple problems: Related or not? Flukes?

ok. here is an update and some previous background info that maybe relevant. Sorry if this gets long winded but I want yuo to have aas much info as possible:

Thursday: went for a short ride around town then stopped at a friends house. Went to leave, bike wont start, like the battery is dead (bike started fine when I started out). Bump startd bike, went straight home. Checked battery, 12.8 volts with the switch off. jump started bike, rev to 5k, no change in voltage. Figured its the dreaded r/r (had the upgraded r/r, oem was replaced by previous owner). Called around, OEM Honda r/r's on backorder. Called Electrosport (electrex), they have em, but want me to make sure the stator is not bad. Ok. Go outside, pull the rt side mid fairing. Look at the stator wire. HolyCow, one wire is burned thru and another is black. Pulle the connection apart, the top two prongs are black and burnt. Called a nearby dealer and dealer says I can splice around the connector. So I splice one wire at a time since I do not know if it makes a difference which wire connects to which since they are all yellow (whose good idea was that?). Check to see if bike will start. It starts up like there was never a problem. Bad Stator? Bad r/r? Both?

Then this morning I had the sidestand light issue. Tried to troubleshoot it this afternoon with no luck. Had the key on and off a number of times. Went to leave for work, starter turns slow like the bat is weak. Check the battery:
Key off: 12.89 volts; Key on-Engine off: 9.8 volts. Jump start - bike running 12.89 volts; rev to about 5500 rpms: 13.8 volts. Bad r/r? Bad stator? bad battery? combo?

Now the kicker in the mis:
My fuel light usually comes on when the needle gets to the white line at teh bottom of the gauge. Needle is now in the red zone and the light has yet to come on. I know it works since it comes on when Iturn the key on. Could all this be related or am I dealing with numerous system failures or flukes?

I leave to the Dragon on Friday and I don't really want to go there and then get stranded.

    TIA
