Has anyone ever tries to shorten their canister before. I am running the V&H slip on and was curious if it could be done. Any side effect that might come with it. Nothing wrong with it the way it is but I can not leave well enough alone for too long before I feel the need to crew around with some thing. Thoughts....

I have nothing against shorter cans as long as they are put together well. Sorry. Couldn't resist.

I haven't noticed any problems. I also repacked it with stainless steel instead of the fibreglass, that was burnt up. I cut about 4". There's a perforated tube inside that you will have to shorten the same amount as the can, and cut and weld a small piece of solid tubing to the main piece. Unfortunately, I didn't take pics as I did it.

[IMG]I cut my CF 2Bros on my Superhawk because part of one was smushed after someone hit me. They went from loud to "almost annoying, don't wanna ride at night, and if I get on the gas every cop in the area will hear me" loud. On the flip side, they drone out all those stupid littly whiney I4's very well. I did not repack mine either, just shoved the old stuff back in. You may want to have a regular pipe available for the occasions when you don't want to be so loud.

Chop saw with metal blade, rivets and rivet gun, drill, and something to measure and mark with is about all that is needed.

Thanks all. Not sure I want the pipe any louder, may be forced to leave well enough alone on this one. Thanks again.

I don't think mine is any louder. Mybe because the old packing was burnt up so much. I do notice a slightly deeper grumble when I rev it.
