Well it was an interesting journey but I finally sold the Miniceptor. Probably shouldn't have bought it in the first place, but I'm glad I did.

Was pretty rough when I got it. Needed a carb rebuild (much thanks to Jamie D), fork seals, a few o-rings here and there, LOTS of brake cleaner, a new headlight assembly to pass inspection (bought on ebay), a chain guard to pass inspection (fabricated with dad, home depot, and a garage) and someone to love it. Also needed a new chain but I had run out of money at this point.

Naturally, the chain snapped on me, destroying the clutch cover and bending the pushrod. Out of comission #1.

Got it back up and running as good as ever. Was on a ride a few hours from home and blew a spark plug out of the head. Awesome. Fixed it up with some rocks and zip ties for short term, eventually with a heli-coil for 'permanent.'

Went through a few faulty petcocks. Eventually found one new in the box from ebay. (on a side note - how did anyone ever get anything done before ebay?)

She had character. Taught me how to ride. Taught me how to wrench. Gave me endless hours of frustration. But man, when she worked did I love her. Sad to see her go.

In more inspiring news I have a new baby. 2004 Honda 599. Been great so far. Someday I'll be back to the VFR world when I finally pull the trigger on the Anniversary (I almost did before this girl popped up on CL).

GREAT NEW RIDE. I love the 599 and it's in the best color! No reason not pop in from time to time.

I hear those little bikes (599s) are a blast. When you get back to the VFR we'll still be here, but there's no reason not to hang out here still. We have lot's of members that ride other things, but prefer our 'enlightened' company.

Thanks guys. I'll still be around. I'm pretty sure I almost got fired last week because I was crying reading the humor thread. Oh well. The community here is unlike any online I've ever seen.

As for the Hornet, I've only put about 300 mi on so far (which is more than 15% of what the original owner put on in 6 years!! [bought it with 1923 mi]) but I love it. Tons more power than the VF500 (but not too much more) - but it's also very useful. I'm not a high RPM guy so it's good for me that it's down in the middle area. Otherwise weight is about the same, ergonomics are pretty similar, and it's still a Honda. I do certainly miss that V-4 sound though.

My only regret now is that work shipped me off to Germany while she's sitting in the garage back home...
