Hi there, starting to consider a ride thru Northern California (coming from WA state) and looking for recommendations regarding a route from around the Oregon border down to as far South as Yosemite. Trying to stay off the interstates as much as possible and seek the backroad scenic byways. The more turns the better, scenic views a bonus. Not looking to go down the coast though.

Timing - late May to early June 2023.

Looking for local knowledge on some good roads to take. And, any other tips re that area.

Unscheduled trip so dates and so stops are not fully planned in advance, somewhat winging it.

Typical day for us is early to rise, about 350-450 miles a day, early to hotel. One meal on the road, usually late morning.

Oh, and in case you're wondering I'll be on the white wheeled Italian Racing Red 3rd Gen 750, HV228.

    Cheers, Greg

It is too bad. Just the year before you joined this site, there used to be an annual BBQ called R3 in Atascadero. R3 for Reggies Roadhouse Round-up. It had run about 10 or so years. There are tons of roads in and around there that make for great riding. I have ridden around southern Ca including Yosemite and found lots of interesting roads with great scenery to ride through. Just get yourself a good GPS and just ride. Turn left, turn right, go straight ahead, just ride. At the end of the day, use the GPS to get you to lodging.
