As everyone knows....everybody wants a VFR. (Who can blame people with envy). How do you lock up your ride 1st in general, 2nd when you go to events or out of town. I have a guerilla remote alarm for everyday use and a kryptonite front wheel lock for all other events. So the question arises....Im I being too parinoid with the front wheel lock or is that not enough. I only use the lock when I am away from home (+80 miles)
I think you're right on target....It's the way the world is now. Know it or lose it.....I don't know if you're new using a front wheel lock....But it's a good idea to have a curley,or some kind of lanyard going from lock to trottle....so you don't ride off with it locked (can screw up some brake parts).........Monk
I too would rather error on the side of caution rather than not doing enough to prevent some ahole from making off with it.Nothing short of bringing your own electrified fence to secure it is to much.
Front wheel lock, master lock on rear wheel. Full body motorcycle cover, and motorcycle cover alarm. It is pretty simple alarm that clips on to the over and has a attached string that can be hooked to any part of the bike. If somebody pulls the cover before uncliping it, then the string gets yanked and the alarm goes off. My apartment complex is fenced and gated but its an open parking structure inside. When riding I carry the wheel lock and the master lock in my pocket. Wherever I stop, I put these on. Almost like a ritual. Still nothing is stop a couple of guys to cruise by, deadlift the bike, put it on a truck and leave. Sucks!
Sad Story of my younger brother. He had a frankenstein 92 Katana 600 with a 94 gixer 750 motor stolen early last year from the parking lot of his appartment. He then got his dream bike, a 2004 viffer out of the crate w zero miles. loved and rode the wheels off for 3 months. untill it was stolen, with his front rotor lock on, from the same lot. He has been heart boken since. He now moved and fell into a 98 gen 5 with 105 miles on it. (105 miles) not a type-o! he is riding it now, loving it, but living in constant fear. I know that where he lives now its not as likely to be stolen but he misses his gen 6. he rode with the wife and me yesterday but even his riding style is more timid then he was. But I gotta say, Im in envy of his gen 5. ( maybe I can boost it....)
