    Hi all,

I've noticed my 02 vfr vtec seems to be running a bit hot, so thought I's ask incase it's normal, my vfr in 21c (69.8f) heat the engine is running at about 78c (172.4f) this is running not at standstill, when I took my wife for a long run only about 140 mile round trip with stops took about 5hrs in total we got lost and was riding through a village at 30mph it was about 24c air temp the bike was at 104c (219.2f) the fansdo work but I only notice them from about 102c (215.6f), should I check/change the coolant? not sure if this is normal or not, seems a little hot to me, bike runs fine, not sure what VFR's are supposed to sound like as each bike is different , mine sort of sounds like a v-twin.

That's sounds totally normal. While flying down back roads at 100kph in ambient temps of >20c my bike usually runs near or above 80c. When I slow down in town to ~50kph it usually climbs above 90. And if I need to go any slower then it'll go above 100c, and in stop and go it'll start using the fan in pretty short order. You don't really need to get worried unless the temp won't come down from or gets any higher than 125c.

I agree w/ PawnBoy. Your temps look normal. In traffic my bike often indicates 225 F or so but on the hwy. will settle back to 180. That indicated temp is from a sensor in a head and not the switch that turns on the fan so often those two things don't seem to coordinate.
Changing coolant is always a good idea if it's more than two years old - per the maintenance schedule...
