Greetings and sorry as I know this issue must have been covered somewhere but I'm new and don't understand how to search for certain things.

I own a 2005 vfr and have been on a few long rides. Southern CA to Tahoe, Tahoe to San Francisco, etc... Looking to go on longer trips as I have in the past with different bikes. I'm 5'7" and am interested in peoples feeling with regards to risers and how much of a difference they have made for longer riding enjoyment. Also, did the clutch and brake lines need to be redone to accomodate for the new distance. Lastly, I'm guessing a new windscreen would be in order, something taller as I'd be up a little higher?

Any input or links to past discussion would be appreciated. Also, how much $$$ am I looking at?

    thanks.

Look into helibars and genmar bar risers and ebay has great deals on double bubble windscreens.
I paid $78 for an iridium colored double bubble. Also, I have used helibars on several bikes and they make a huge difference. Also, I wrapped the skinny grips with tennis racket regripping kits that I saw on a friend's bike. What a huge difference, gel grips, now larger in diameter and soft on the hands. AHHH

You might also want to check out Convertibars. Never used 'em myself, but I think I'll get them for my next sportbike

Are you the guy with the yellow VFR that lives over in the Glenshire area?

Well, I have a yellow VFR, but have no idea where Glenshire is. I'm on the eastern end of Long Island in NY.

    G'day,

I am just back from a 7 day ride from the NSW Coast to the Mountains to the Western plains and back through the mountains again I am very happy with the helibars and sheepskin seat cover combination on my 98VFR. I have a bagster tank bag and a Givi topbox that looked after the luggage and didn't upset the handling of the bike at all. As for the screen, I have a MRA touring screen (fixed lip) but the buffeting was worse than the original, so I swapped it back. I have heard the Zero Gravity Double Bubble screens are the go, but I have not used one yet. Canberra winters can be rather fresh, so I also have Oxford heated grips - they are also larger in diameter than the originals and this does reduce the pressure required for longer trips. I am happy with the brake and clutch perfomance, although braided lines would irobably improve their perfomance even further.
    Hope this helps
Also, I am currently running Michelin Pilot tyres - Sport on the front and Road (touring) on the back.
    What are you using?

    Happy touring
    Stay Upright.

I used to have a yellow 2000 vfr but now have a 2005 silver one. I live in Truckee, not glenshire. Is there actually someone else in my direct area, Truckee/Tahoe on this forum that has a VFR, and not a dirt bike? Let's meet up and ride if that is the case.
