I'm not sure if this is the right category for this thread, so if it needs to be moved, go for it.

My son is nine and I think he is old enough to start riding with me. I know others on here take their kids with them on trips and I'd like to know what kinds of protective gear is used. I know he will need a helmet, lace-up boots, gloves, elbow and kneepads and some sort of jacket. I also know he will most likely outgrow some of it in the next year.

So what are you all using to protect them?

Interesting you bring this up... kind of related to the topic...
What does the law say about kids riding?
Do they have to be a certain age or height?

    <-- 13 year old daughter.

I'm kinda lucky that there is a local shop that often has last years styles at much cheaper prices. Got her the Shark helmet and the Olympia jacket for less then $100 each. The pants are Cortech womems Venture pants. All together about $300 and she seems well armored. Still needs boots. I'm pretty sure she has stopped growing so I don't need to worry about new gear every year.
