My VFR has a speedometer error of -9.2%, showing 70 when doing 64 for example. I have a Speedohealer but any change for the speedo creates an equal amount of error in the odometer. Is there any way to change the programming in the VFR's instrument cluster?

I'm not entirely sure why you would not want your speedo healer to also correct your odometer? Maybe I'm misreading your question. If your speedo is reading 9.2% high (not low as you've indicated) than so is your odometer, giving you higher than actual miles. The healer should correct for that, a big reason for installing it in the first place. Apologies if I'm missing some thing in translation.

havcar is right. if your speedo is off then your odometer is off as well as the odometer uses the speedo for distance calculation. in changing the speedo to read correctly, it will also change your odometer to calculate your distance correctly.

If I need to know my speed, I look at the Zumo. It tells me. I never wanted to increase the bike's mileage so the speed was "right". just my two cents.

Sorry guys, the error is +9.2%, my opps. The problem however is verified by radar gun, GPS and timed runs: my VFR reads high on the speedo yet the odo is spot on, correcting the speedo creates an equal amount of error in the odo. What I'm wanting to do is correct the problem in the cluster's programming, if it can be altered at all...

About a month or two ago someone else was talking about a different product that I think would do this. It was a chip that was a little more rough around the edges than the speedo healer (just a chip with a few buttons and lights) but I think that it was capable of doing this. I thought I had added it to my favorites for future reference but I guess not. I'm sure a search on here might reveal it or perhaps that person will see this post and reply.

I don't believe that the instruments can be reprogrammed, hence the advent of the speedohealer. Your issue with the speedo reading high but the mileage being correct is not a familiar problem, assuming that the GPS is accurate. The odometer readings should be dependent on the speedo readings. In this case I would simply make the 9.2% high adjustment to correct the speedo which in turn should give a lower than actual mileage odometer reading, a good thing for resale. I certanly wouldn't do anything to make the odometer read higher than actual, but if an accurate odometer (even if it's reading lower than actual) is required than maybe ditching the speedohealer altogather is what's needed. This is a strange problem, are you entirely sure that everything has been correctly installed and that the adjustments to the speedohealer are correct?
