will it hurt the forks/frame/triple trees to ride it with the slightly bent tubes??? I can not afford new tubes/straightning the old tubes at the moment.
I realize that the oil seals probably will not last as long but will it damage anything else on the bike?
Also I found a parts bike today for $100 motor is no good, no title, no tank, and no lower fairing....worth it if everything else is in good shape?

    Thanks

If forks are not bent nor rusted, it's a deal for you (I assume you pay no shipping for it).
If all the electrical/electronic is there too (Pulse Generator, CDI, Regulator, alternator, etc), it worth it.
It all depends on how long you want to keep the bike and if you have storage to keep these parts.
You can also just take the forks and trash the rest or resell in parts on eBay.
The trap to avoid is the temptation to also restore this part bike and have two.

How do you know if the forks are bent?

I got a used set off Ebay and when I turn one around and put them side to side fork tube (Silver part that goes in) to fork tube they don't lay perfect flush together

The real test is the dial indicator on the fork tube in v-blocks.
A rustic method is rolling it on a plane surface (glass table for example).
Finding the high/low point and using a caliper, you can have a pretty good idea of the run out.

But it starts with the bike inspection when you buy a full bike: evidence of drop, accident, or other "incidents".
Every time I bought a bike that had "just fell in the driveway", the damage were always worst than expected.
Look at the symmetry of the bike, the spaces between parts on both sides for example.

I put them in a soft vice and with the naked eye they just didnt look right so I used a string from one end to the other and there was a sizeable gap in the middle.

I have checked all of this on the rest of the frame, everything lines up like it is supposed to on the frame, thankfully!!! I do not have a dial indicator at my home but have a friend that has one.. thats just as good right?? lol
will it hurt the frame or triple trees or anything running the bent tubes till I can get the money up to buy new ones??

The owner of the parts bike will not send me any pictures..or really answer any questions about the bike, that makes me kind of weary of buying it. and yes I would go pick it up, no shipping costs.
Thanks for the link to the forks!!!! I am going to keep an eye on them, hopefully they wont go for more than $75, thats all I have to spend on this ordeal... was going to go towards new tires...gues that will have to wait
