I'm sure this has been brought up in the past, but thought I'd post anyway with fresh info. I finally broke a fairing clip and just could not bring myself to pay over $4 bucks for ONE that the local dealer wanted

Found these at thefastenerwarehouse.com, $20.59 shipped to me for 100 of them. They look a lot better than the generic type fastners I've found at Kragen.

    http://www.thefastenerwarehouse.com/catalog/item/568361/2509109.htm

I guess now I can go nuts and break clips like crazy with all the extra ones I'll now have. :clap2:

You guys so . I smiled reading this as my first attempt at fairing removal on my new/used 04 bike ended after disintegrating one of these annoying clips and realizing I was doing it totally wrong!! I was going to put the stock sprocket back on, but after I couldn't get the first part off without breaking stuff I said :help: What a hack I am. . I am used to Yamaha which was the cheaper, pop out kind. Thanks for link.:caked: I would go in for 20 or so as even I can't break 100 that fast!!

Not sure, whether I'm quoting the obvious, but since last saturday I finally realised how those fairing clips are designed to work. I must have spend hours already trying to pull up those clips to remove them from the fairing. Last saturday I finally realised that you actually have to push in (!) the middle bit of the clip, for the clip to release and it now can be removed from the fairing easily. Before re-inserting, you'll have to lift the middle bit again until it sticks out, so it can be pushed to lock after reinsertion.

yeah, it took a bit for me to figure them out, too. They are a pain in the ass. That's why I ordered these. I have a whole bag of them now so if I break one, I just toos it and stick in a new one. No worries!

Wow this is a great find. I know how overpriced these clips can be, even for Honda cars... and they are low quality anyway. These however are well worth the small investment!

In a pinch - I run to Lowes, they have different size clips too. Also my first choise is to run to the Auto part store - lots of variety of clips that will work to.

The fastener wearhouse is a pretty good deal too - I may just buy a bag of them anyway.

if any of you guys do order them, be forewarned that I bought the ones from the link and while they fit in the whole fine, i am unable to push the middle part in to make them lock so they aren't a great solution. I basically have a bag of plastic clips that half way work. At least on the 5g, maybe the holes are a little bigger on the 6g?

Thanks for the heads up just broke one of the bottom ones, seems those ones always fill up with crude and much easier to break. Im sure the clips work the same on both gens. has anybody found a better solution?
........ thinking of using stainless nut and bolt for bottom ones.........

On my 6g is seems the very bottom ones are the tightest to fit, but I am able to push them through all the way.

either open the hole up a bit with a rat tail file or a drill bit. Or sand the inner "pins" of the clips down with some sand paper

I'd opt to open the holes a tad

I think the real problem is the dealer looking to charge four bucks each- mine charges about two.

Replaced all my broken ones (I think 4 in all) in one shot, had a couple left over, and naturally haven't broken oine since- because I learned the trick to properly using them. It's actually an elegant little bugger.
