I took the carb assembly off of my 86 vfr 750. I noticed that the intake joints (the short thingys that connect the carbs to the engine) are deteriorating. Somebody siliconed them once upon a time.
    Are replacements hard to find?

thats what happens when you keep using the same parts (That work )and don't change them in design .....you create the ability to keep older bikes on the road .....

Do not waste your time and money on new stock intake boots

I ordered new ones and they looked good but were a real bitch to install the carbs.

INSTEAD order silicone TURBO boots and cut them to length. They are VERY pliable and make it very easy to install the carbs.

You can get the turbo silicone boots in red, blue ,or black.

well...... since the stock boots were designed to work and have a track record of working without modifing them... I say use the OEM.. all it takes is a little heat and they are just fine....

I just want to say thanks for all the info. I am new to the site. I bought an 84 vf700f to restore, and I was worried about the boots being too hard to reinstall, or how to find new ones, since I also was looking at the wrong diagram. Now I can remove the carbs with confidence.
