Ok so I was wondering what evreyone's take on Redline full synthetic motor oil is? The bottle says they use it for jet turbine engines but that it is also good for regular engines. I was wondering if anyone uses it.
Yep, been using Redline (except for this oil change). Check out their this link (below) for their website. Opinions on oil vary like the weather, but they are top notch I believe. Lots of pro racing teams swear by them. They also make "water wetter" coolant replacement. Listen to their little video as well. Cycle gear carries Redline oil. http://www.redlineoil.com/products_motoroil.asp?categoryID=11 Oh, and it is wet clutch safe. I should know...I use it.
My understanding is that wet clutches, like the kind in many motorcycles including the VFR do not do well with certain friction modifiers such a lithium greases and detergents. These modifiers are fine in cars since cars don't have wet clutch systems. So check if the specific Redline oil has modifiers or not.
I've been using Redline motor oil on my car when the economy of my wallet is good, the motor revs free compared to Mobil 1 Syn (same weight) and feels a bit smoother.... can't say for a motorcycle though, haven't tried that yet. in fact I'm in for a oil change...we'll see....let us know if you do go through!
