I recently went through a blown rectifier. It partially melted the plug. After installing the new rectifier, the voltage provided isn't quite right. I'm pretty sure it's the melted plug/wires going into the rectifier causing this....however, honda doesn't sell that plug as a part, and I'm not really wanting to buy/install a new wiring harness for this small piece of plastic. I checked a local salvage yard, and the douche there tried to screw me by quoting me $150 for the plug.....:bs:
Any idea where I can get one?

The bike will run fine, then just die. After a minute or 5, I can push start the bike and it will run find for a while, then die again. This kinda blows! I measured the output and it's around 13.8 volts coming from the battery at idle, then goes down slightly when the revs climb up. Bought a new battery recently as well. Any help from you gurus would be greatly appreciated!!

Did the new battery come before the new regulator/rectifier? If this is the case, the battery might already be a goner. Same thing happened to me, as I assumed that the new R/R that the PO had installed would last a while, but he re-used the burnt up plug. I refused to believe that I had a VFR for all of 6 months and the "brand new Honda OEM" R/R was already toast...

...So I replaced the battery with a new one.

That battery lasted all of 2 1/2 months before I was bump starting it again. :bs:

Turns out that the R/R that was 8 1/2 months old was already torched internally. The cause? The same thing you are inquiring about - the melted and scorched R/R connector.

What I did, rather than replace it, was to cut the female terminal spades out of the burnt connector, and then plug them into the R/R one at a time. At the same time, I replaced all of the charging system wiring with heavier gauge wire. Did this last winter, have not had a hiccup since.

This site if chock full of information on how to re-wire the charging system, augment the cooling of the R/R with a CPU fan, and diagnostics to figure out which component has failed. The search function is your friend.

oh no, I've searched. I, if I cannot find an appropriate plug, will almost assuredly do as you mentioned and put the wires to the rectifier directly.
Oh, the battery came after the rectifier. I forgot to mention that. The old battery had simply given up after the two previous rectifier problems.
