I have an 01 with 7k on the OEM Dunlop 204's. The wear bars are showing and the tire is pretty squared off. Under hard braking, but nowhere near the limit, I feel the rear end wagging back and forth a few inches. My friend says the worn out tire wouldn't cause this because under hard braking their is so little weight on the rear tire. This usually happens at about a30 mph. Thoughts? Jeff McQueen

    Hey Jeff,

Good question. However, I believe the best answer would be for you to get a new set of tires. Seriously, you know you need them anyway so why wait? Then, if you are still having trouble with the rear wheel sliding after a fresh set of rubber, we'll see if we can figure something else out. ;)

Until then, ride safe and for God's sake, go get some new tires before you hurt yourself! :p

Most likely cause is the tire but could also be caused by the pinch bolt for the eccentric adjuster being loose or the bearing/hub assembly being worn or loose. Get it up on the centerstand before riding again and check both places. Have someone hold the bike while you shake the rear wheel looking for any play; don't want the embarrassment of a garage drop.
