I have a 1987 VFR700 that has the double seat now and I would like to convert it to a solo seat and the rear cowl behind. Does anyone know if this was an option for this year and how would I find the parts necessary to make this conversion? Thanks.
I would think it was an option, but I am not sure. You can search e-bay as I have seen one or two pop up there. You can also look for a seller named vfrchuck. I bought a 93 seat cowl from him. He makes the cowls himself. He might be able to make on for your bike. You could even try to look up some bike salvage yards and see if they might possibly have one, but that's usually a long shot. If I stumble accross one I will post the link here.
I actually do not think it was an option for the 86-87 models, you just had the rear cowl cover to cover the rear potion of the seat. If it's something you really want to do, it is going to be a one off type of thing. I'm sure sargeant seat could take care of the seat part
