Rear Brake issue

    I have a question for all who have an 8th gen to see if its just an isolated issue or if it's a common problem.

    I just recently bought a 2014 VFR literally with 0 miles on it from my dealer about 2 weeks ago and less than 150 miles in my rear brake started locking up. I wore the brakes in on the first 30 miles with different brake pressure with no issues. However once I started riding around mile 80 it started to feel sluggish and within minutes my rear brake was locked up with so much pressure my rotator was red hot. I am fairly certain that I was not dragging my brake. So I tested it yesterday and I didn't use my rear brake at all just to see if it would do it again and sure enough after about an hour of riding I had to pull over and let the brake cool so that I could free the wheel up and limp the bike back home.

    Has this happened to anyone else?

    Not me. Assembly error at the dealer? Don't know how much they actually have to put together. There's no real "spring return" that I know of. Something is just binding when the hydraulics return.

    Typically it's an obstruction in the master cylinder that is blocking fluid return for the brakes. Bring it back to the dealer for repair under warranty.

    be sure the mc is not over-filled, should have some air space above fluid level.

    Read the PDI sheet they should have given you, it'll say if they changed the fluid before you purchased it

    If not the fluid is old and the system needs draining and new fluid ...Dot 4

    I have and they were replicate the issue so I'm waiting for them to give me a update on it on Monday

    My Opinion. Don't touch anything on that bike other than user periodic checks and adjustments. The bike is new. The dealership needs to deal with it. If you monkey with anything, you can bet the dealership, when looking at it later, is going to say someone tampered with it and they are very likely to make you pay for something they did wrong, or was a factory defect. But I see you have the bike at the dealership now. Good for you.
