Reading Fault Codes

Is anyone familiar with reading fault codes on the 8th gen? I had a check engine light come on over the weekend but it went away after about 30 miles. I saw this thread on another forum and was wondering if it applied to these newer bikes as well....

The fault codes will be the same. What was yours?

 

I am not sure. Will I have that same square connector on my bike or is it a different connector?
