I am wandering with all of the rr problems with these bikes and the harness on the 6th gen bikes being recalled for the same rr reason why do you think the 5th gens were left out? My bike has extreemly low milage and I have already ordered the VFRness for peace of mind to install with my still working stock RR. from what I understand Honda upgraded the stock RR but the problem was more to do with the harness... I still think I may end up buying the newer version of the 5ths RR but I truly think that honda shold have steped up to the plate and forked out the cash for these upgrades on the 5th gen bikes too. Especially since they are sport/touring bikes, there is a big difference getting stuck on the side of the road around town and from being god knows where on a trip and have such an incident... Your thoughts?
Electrical issues I too have the same thoughts. I just got stranded two days ago on the side of the road. I left home (bike started fine) and went for a trip with my friend with his Moto Guzzi. We got about 10 miles out of town and pulled over the side of the road to talk about where we were going. Went to start the bike and no worky. We finally found someone with jumpers and restarted the bike. I felt the rectifier and it was really hot. My leads could have used a little cleaning but overall everything looked OK. The battery was new in 07. I will be getting a new Rick's R/R but now I hear about the harness and it makes me a little nervous taking off on long trips with the bike. I agree that this is a sport Touring bike and there should be no worries about going 300 miles in a day. Aden Rich 1999 VFR 800 FI-Red
agrich2, with the updated RR and the VFRness from Wire My Bike there is no issue with going as far as forseen problems go. My problem with it is that honda recognises it by making a new RR but does not seem to think that replacing an existing defective part in their product line because it had a problem constitutes a recall... Not to mention the problem is more than likely not even the RR, it is the harness itself!
