So, this is a newbie maintenance question, but then...I'm a maintenance newbie!

I need to flush the coolant on my 6th gen, and glossed over the shop manual really quick. It says to replace the sealing washers on the water pump cover and cylinder drain bolts. Is this really necessary? If so, is that an OEM part I'd have to order, or something I can pick up at an auto-hardware store?

Thanks in advance! Not a lurker, just not happy with any pics of my '09! Need an epic sunset or something...

In most cases, they can be re-used....I always do, unless they leak of course :) You should be fine.

Thankss for the responses. I want to change coolants anyway, I still have the stock stuff in there. Normally I would save the coolant and take it to hazardous waste dump, but since I live in NYC now, I might just go dump it down a drain in Manhattan, since that seems to be pretty much the same thing!
