I inadvertently pressed the starter button (on several occasions) while attempting to switch from "D" to "S" and vice versa while riding. Does the VFR1200 have a Clutch starter interlock or a device which disengages the starter once the engine has started to prevent starter damage? I noticed last night when I mistakenly pressed the starter button that the lights dimmed momentarily until I quickly released the button. I checked my shop manual but could not find any references to the specs relating to the saftey / prevention feature for dummies...Ha-Ha.

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

yes all Hondas have some type of interlock...not exactly sure how the DCT is set up...and the lights dim when starter is engaged to reduce battery drain...have been that way since at least the mid 70's...ever since the off switch was eliminated when states made daytime headlight use mandatory
