Pricing for 4th Gens

What is the average price for 4th gen VFRs with 35-40,000 miles in over all good maintenance condition and cleaned carbs/new(er) tires with all OEM parts and no aftermarket bits? I'm looking at a few and want to make sure I don't over spend. The few I'm looking at with 35,000+ miles are all $3,200-$3,800.

I've seen some on BringaTrailer and other websites sell for $3,500-$4,000 with much less miles but the fact that 4th gens are getting harder to find, makes me wonder.

So I'd like y'alls input. Thanks!

 

$2500 - $3000

$3000++ when the bodywork is VERY GOOD / EXCELLENT and perhaps there are some tasteful, quality improvements like suspension / exhaust / controls.

This is the day (3-1/2 years ago) my 95 rolled out of the van. 10K miles, near perfect, 2 seats, 2 seat cowls, good tires. $3000 (not including shipping) out of New Jersey.



For some reason New Jersey was the place at the time. Right after this another one popped up in similar condition / pricing. And then another about 6 months after that.

Here in the Pacific Northwest?... not so much. I HATE shipping bikes, but there just wasn't any "good" ones around here, and I had the money ready.

The prices do seem to be going up now though. They are getting a little more desirable, and in very good condition still... rarer. So perhaps $3200-ish is my new upper range for a "GOOD" RC36-II.

Such a hard, subjective question though.

 

Thanks for that. I do agree, things have changed over the years. I bought my '98 5th gen with 19k miles and quality mods for $3,200 in 2018. Now, I can't find them for less than $3,500 with higher mileage and no maintenance.

I'm looking at a clean '96 that's fairly stock but all timed maintenance including valve adjustment with 38k miles for $3,500. Seems a bit on the high side but all the others I'm seeing are trashed or right around the same price.

Take your time if you can. The right one will eventually come along and you will know it.

I think I have mentioned before, mileage is almost irrelevant with proper maintenance on these bikes.

Yeah, 30 and 40-something thousand miles is nothing for these and that's why I'm leaning towards this bike because it's had proper maintenance for at least since the previous owner. I'll be patient though
