Has anyone installed a Power Commander on an 01 and noticed a remarkable improvement in performance and mileage? Did you have the bike dyno'd and dialed in also or use standard MAP that comes with unit?

Recently installed a PC3 USB on my 98 VFR. Did notice a marked improvement in performance, more in terms of the smooth acceleration throughout the rev range rather than pure 'gut wrenching' power. Hasn't made any improvement to fuel consumption as far as I can see. I used a map downloaded from the power commander site that seemed to be the closest match to the bike setup (not exact as there is not one for an Arrow slip on). A friend of mine has a Rocket III and had a PC3 installed, but also had it dynotuned at the same time - he noticed significant improvement in overall performance and slightly better fuel economy. If I could afford it I would have the bike dynotuned. Hope this helps. Cheers!!

Looking for more power out or the largest displacment production bike on the planet(2300 cc, 3 cyl for those not in the know) + its carving abilities are on the plus side of fair. We are a sick lot aren't we:biggrin: :loco:

Exactly what is "dynotuning" and where do you have it done? I am thinking about getting a power commander for my 2000, as I have noticed a jerky, inconsistent throttle response, especially in the low range and lower gears (more so than is normal, as I think most bikes are "touchy" in this range). Thanks

Hi Ramba... Dynotuning involves using a dynamometer (a device for diagnosing engine management problems particularly on newer EFI vehicles). The dynamometer enables a technician to pinpoint problems, for example inadequate fuel flow, poorly flowing injectors and ignition problems. The dynamometer is an accurate means for setting up carburettor mixtures, etc. Power readings can also be obtained to compare before and after tuning performance and gauge improvements from performance modifications. Hence the Power Commander maps can be set up to gain the best performance from the bike over the whole throttle and rev ranges. (Well this is what I understand of the process). Suffice it to say, I certainly wouldn't have the know how or means to do this myself. :frown:
As for where it is done... You would need to find a bike tuning centre or bike shop that has a dynamometer and specialises in Power Commander programming. Not sure where in your country, but I'm sure some of the guys will be able to suggest suitable places. Cheers!
