Hello, I just purchased a 2007 RWB with only 2300 miles in excellent condition. I haven't owned a VFR since I bought a new VF1000F back in 1984. Then I owned a V65 Magna, ZX11 Ninja, ZX14 Ninja, and a Shadow until picking up this 07 VFR800 a couple weeks back.

The previous owner had a Power Commander V for the 02-09 still in the box. It also has a K&N filter and Leo Vince slip-ons installed. Looking on the Power Commanders website I found the appropriate map to load for the K&N and my exhaust. My question to you guys is once I install the unit and the map is it worth doing the Pair / Flapper mod as well or will the Power Commander work best with just the current filter / exhaust mods I already have? Also what about removing the snorkel? Any advice as to what I should do / not do once the power commander is installed will be greatly appreciated.

After being back on a Honda V4 I wonder why I ever left !!

    Thanks

It is better to do the mods before you install the PCV. The PAIR is worthwhile, there are mixed results on what if any benefits the flapper mod does. I have a 2006 (stock air filter and Leo Vince pipes) with the PAIR removed via block off plates and the flapper disconnected. Runs much better since the PCV but the ultimate settings are to also do the starter valve synch. Low end is now smooth and stutter free.

The flapper valve is designed to lower the sound volume of the intake. An EPA special. It will probably sound cooler, and louder, without it.

The O2 sensors are disabled, is that correct? If so they are not feeding back what the PAIR is doing which is injecting air into the exhaust to burn any un-burnt fuel. Thus the PAIR is helping to clean the air but it has no effect whatsoever on the engine's operation.

If you get a module that allows you to tune the Power Commander, you would then need to disable the PAIR valve.

I just did the PAIR removal, snorkel, and flapper mod all this weekend. I did it to my previous bike as well. The result is that your low end throttle off the line isn't as snatchy (herky jerky), removes most of the dead spot in the throttle at 5,000 RPM, and the VTEC transition is considerably smoothed. If you have popping on deceleration, the PAIR removal also eliminates that.

Read Post # 4 (by CandyRedRC46)in this thread .... the flapper and snorkel "DO" slightly offer some performance increases as the Dyno runs listed will show.

Ive been half tempted to purchase power commander for my bike, i took my injectors in thinking they were leaking and the shop charged me $20 to test them, but they were within 5% of each other on the flow test and had clean spray... but my bike still is running rich even with the 2 brothers exhaust... i get decel popping and black tail pipes literally within 25miles of riding..

A remap is the most effective cure. There are different devices, PCV is one of them.

I'd spend the big bucks for the R B racing and get fueling, auto tune, ignition timing, and rev limit increase all in one box instead of a rats nest of wires and boxes junking up your storage space.
