Power commader problems

    Hello to all.
    I have recntly put a PCII into my UK '99 vfr800 and i am having nothing but problems with it.
    My setup is a '99 bike with K&N filters, iridium sparks and a micron can.
    I use standard 95 ron unleaded and so loaded the map (004 i believe) which is for the micron K&N setup with RON above 93.
    At low revs the bike judders and if you are at around 2-2.5k rpm and give it a handfull on the throttle the bike stutters so hard that it nearly stalls and i nearly fall off... Not good!
    Has anyone els had this problem and if so what solved it? I'm thinking of solving it by getting rid of the PC altogether! :frown:

    Try starting with the base map. (0 map). The base map on my 06 cleared up 'snatchy' throttle and low rev sputtering. From there try a map for just the microns. Then move up to maps for more and more modded bikes.

    I have a PCII on my '98. I have a BMC air filter and thermal wrapped stock headers with a Carbon Fibre slip-on. I am using the base map for the moment. The bike runs so much noticeably better than stock, so I havent been tempted yet to start playing with more appropriate maps, although I probably will eventually. Right now I am just having a blast just riding it. BTW - the low end runs really well, no stumbles or anything.

    thanks for your advice. Looks like i should restore the PCII to stock settings. The map for the setup i have is so spluttery its dangerous. It cut out on me the other day at the low revs so much that it stalled as i was turning a corner and i dropped it. Could have been really nasty!

    When you have the base map installed it should run much better. If not then you may have a messed up PC and a switch back to stock will confirm this.

    I also noticed when I first put my PCII on my 98 that it stumbled twice but at very low RPM. I think I was in 2nd going about 25-30 mph and it was a very slight hesitation. I wasn't starting to add throttle or anything. I bought it used, though so the map is whatever the last guy had. I'm waiting for a friend to loan my a connector to use a USB cable with the old 9 pin serial on the PC to get a custom map. I did notice that when under power the bike feels stronger now. It even started lifting the front tire once going into 3rd gear which I don't think it had ever done.

    UNBELIEVABLE...
    I sent the same message as this post to the guys at dynojet and they replied..

    "Sorry for the problems, this can be a common fault with the PCII's on the VFR, if you would like to return the unit direct to myself, I will modify the unit and return it back to you ASAP. All free of charge of course"
