And no I'm talking about hand guns. Was wondering what the folks here have to say about whether or not one packs their helmet around or do you lock it to the bike when say at an event or shopping or what ever?
Me, I pack it around, unless I can see the bike and it's with in a jump. One of the small short comings of the VFR is where the helmet lock is. sheesh, you'd think they could do better. Whats your take on the subject?

Mine goes where I go unless one of my side cases is empty. I don't leave it unattended.

I leave mine locked to the hanger on the left side of the 4th gen. With my gloves and glasses stuffed in it. I've never had anyone mess with them. (But we have no helmet law and most riders don't wear or want a sweaty old crusty helmet.) I used to leave it on the bars on my Kawi as the helmet hoder would not let you mount a full face in the stock location.

I usually take my helmet with me. If I am going to leave it with the bike I use a smaller cable lock that stays in my tail bag. I run it through my full face helmet so they'll have to cut the cable to get the helmet.

I packed it when I rode one of my older VF's because the helmet locks didn't work. With the new bike I'll lock it.

I pack it, less things to attract attention to the bike the better IMO.

Now back to the thread...I carry mine. It was an investment and I want people to know that the hunk of a man walking by is a rider. Besides, living in Seattle a helmet can quickly turn into a water bowl if left outside.

    carry it.

...and if you don't want to use your helmet hook, NEVER hang your hat on the mirror stalk.

I wear mine. I try to stay away from events and stopping. But in the event that I must enter a store, I carry it.

I carry it most of the time.

If I ride to work, I sometimes lock it since there are guards to enter the parking lot.

Depends on where I am and how long I will be. If I am gonna be just a few minutes, I'll hang it on the mirror. If I am gonna be a long while, I'll lock it.

If I am just running in the store quickly, I carry it...if I am gonna be gone longer, and/or buy more shizzle than I can carry with it, I lock it. I figure (like was mentioned) they are gonna have to cut the straps to get it off the lock most likely.

Pack it most of the time, but if going for a hike or something else and it must stay behind i lock it up. Mor worried about my gear in the soft bags. No issues yet and toured all over.
    main reason i pack it.....
because i'm to lazy to fiddle with the seat and lock it and don't want to worry about rain.

Carry it with me almost all the time.

It'll stay on the mirror if I'm at the local coffee shop. On the helmet lock if I'm at a bike friendly hangout and nearby.

I carry it with me. That way I can pick off the bugs while I'm waiting in line for the cashier. Also - it is useful as a "carry-all" for the few items I need to pick up on the road. And, it avoids the question "is that a fashion statement you're wearing - or do you actually RIDE a motorcycle?"
