Not new at all. It's been on Google for some time. What is not on Google is what God means. Then again, who has time to wade through the BS.

Just another natural killer in Australia, this Tropical Cyclone is about smash it's way across the North Queensland coast and inland dumping huge amounts of rain. It's a massive storm about 1400 km wide. Currently forecast strength to be just below, with a wind speed of few kilometres short of, a category 5 system. If it's movement is slower towards the coast than predicted it will likely reach Cat 5, with winds around 300 km/h.

As the low exits the NSW North Coast, where I am, it's forecast to dump huge amounts of rain too, on already saturated and in many areas flooded land.

I've been through two typhoons in the South Pacific. They can be incredible storms.

Noah's vessel would act like a canoe, be blown away by these winds. Wind speed currently at 222 km/h at one offshore weather station, expected 275 km/h at least as it hits the coast. Rainfall has been recorded at 200 millimetres per hour. The cyclone is about 60 km from and moving very slowly towards the coast, could intensify.

I've experienced the destructive forces of these severe cyclones, with 500 millimetres of rain per day with total of 1100 millimetres in 3 days where the river flooded 22 metres above normal flow. Massive loss of property. That's about a years worth of average rainfall for many locations.

Fingers crossed everyone in the way of this cyclone remain safe, they will be going through a frightening situation for many hours.

Thanks to the scientific community for the ability to forewarn us of these impending weather events. I was comparing your data with what there was of a hurricaine that struck Galveston. Texas in 1908. Loss of life was estimated at 8,000.

Have friends up there that say they are OK as their house has been built for Cat 5 Cyclones, another good thing with forewarning the Emergency services have been continually reminding residents affected not to go outside when it initially quiets down as the eye is up to 60miles across and slow moving so expected to take 2-3 hours to cross.

People as the "eye wall" approached have reported they've moved from their home to a vehicle because the house isn't going to withstand the cyclone. Haven't heard anymore I imagine their comms are wiped out by now.

Living in Florida my whole life I have been in a bunch of hurricanes including Cat 5 Andrew. The big ones like this one can be devastating. Back in 04 we had 2 hit the exact same place within 2 weeks. Literately the eye centers were less than 1 mile apart. Its bad enough but to have just dug out of the first one to be clobbered again was a royal pain in the ass. And these were only 2's. I went out into the eye of both, saw trees down in one direction only to find them the opposite direction after the storm. Weather is crazy.

    Wow...land and sky
Would hate to be there while that thing stirs up all kinds of critters...isn't the storm bad enough for these poor folks?!

    Hope everyone has been okay...

I can't imagine being in a humongous storm like that.

Plunk down some major pesos for a half dozen or so of these horsepower mods that will make your bike capable of some of the claimed speeds referred to.. Or just watch Dorothy and Toto again..

I went out into the eye of the typhoon that crossed over Okinawa Japan when I was there. Really weird. Very low air pressure, as in it actually made you aware of breathing it was so low. Very very calm. Since the storm was blocking some of the sunlight, everything had a kind of sunset color to it as well. It was warm, no wind, or at least very little, then after a few hours, BAM!!!! Everything started over. I saw a poor bird get blown off its branch and it was flapping its little wings as hard as it could, but still flying backwards...

There's been massive property damage, crops losses and infrastructure damage, 10's of thousands without power, with food and water shortages. I've heard of injuries but no deaths. 25,000 people were evacuated from the mainland affected areas before the cyclone hit. Evacuations of people from offshore islands, that were smashed by +260km/h winds, are going ahead. The locations hardest hit there's the least information coming out of there, no communications, no mobile phone signal, no photos or youtubes coming out of there, etc. Been in that situation before.

The degraded cyclone is inland heading SE, parallel to the coast causing torrential rain. It's bucketing down, a whiteout, here in NE NSW on already saturated land. There will be floods!

The latest report is a freaky one...
"The most recent model forecasts have intensified the low forming off the Brisbane coastline with characteristics of a Tropical Cyclone, with potential Category 1- borderline Category 2 winds, bringing rain of 100-400mm over the SE QLD / NE NSW coastline."
