Yes adjust the valves on the bike first, warm up then compression test yourself. I had an ASE Ford mechanic tell me I needed a new/rebuild motor for my Windstar. That was over 90k miles ago with the same motor. Trust no one Luke..............................

A Nissan technician told my mom that her motor needed replaced on her Altima at 90k. Someone didn't fucking put all 5 quarts into the engine on the previous oil change. And they said it was the engine....

Its like vultures ready to pick at a carcass  they want you to start selling it. Looks like you could make more than the 800 with a the people putting dibs on it.

    Sell it...part it out.

Get something that's not going to cause you so much grief.

    lubricate & wait

I don't know if the shop did this but if they suspect a sticking ring I would pull the plugs and spray a little penetrating oil down the cylinders and wait a week. Crank it w/o the plugs and do it again. That ring may just work free. I don't trust shops.

that low a mileage, its VERY possible to be a stuck ring issue because it hasnt been run enough for them to seat making good seals. some penetrating oil should help this.
