So I pulled my 06 out of a 5 year storage. I drained all gas, replaced fuel pump, changed all oils and fluids, New battery. Everything seems fine but the fuel pump will not prime. The starter cranks but no fuel. All fuse are good and i even changed them ALL out to be sure. I get no power to the fuel pump using my multi at thr connector. I tested the bank sensor and that is fine. I think its the relay to the right of the battery. Part 35850-MT4-003. It does not click when key is turned and its the first thing in line with the fuel pump wire. Is there a way to bypass this relay/magnetic switch so i can see if that is the issue before buying the part? YES THE CUTOFF SWITCH IS IN THE ON POSITION. I have searched for days and no ones solutions have been helpful for me. I need this fixed as I need to sell ASAP
With luck the diagram below should help focus your investigations. You may also want to refer to the pdf file schematic which shows the location of the various components on the bike. I can't work out how to include a pdf image into this posts so I have parked a copy on one of my websites here :- www.lifford-cooke.com/motorbiking/documents/VFR VTEC PGM-FI Diagram 2002.pdf Other thoughts - Does the bike has an aftermarket alarm? These can be a major source of grief especially after a long lay-up. If the bike has the HISS immobiliser system does the light on the instruments stop flashing when you put the key in and move it to the ignition on position? If it is still flashing then maybe worth trying the spare key as the coded key may not be being recognised. Good luck - let us know how you get on. SkiMad
Thanks for the reply. The diagram helps. There is no alarm or anything. Where are the fuel cutoff relay and engine stop relay located on the vfr. I have all farings removed BTW. From the diagram it looks like the relay i thought it was is OK as the starter fires
The schematic in the pdf file I linked to shows the locations of the various components, but I have just spotted that the full hypertext link in my post has been truncated and as a result it is not being displayed correctly on this forum. So I have pasted below the whole link. This should open a .pdf format document which shows the locations of those components. The fuel cut off relay is marked as FCR and the engine stop relay as ESR. www.lifford-cooke.com/motorbiking/documents/VFR VTEC PGM-FI Diagram 2002.pdf I don't know why that link got garbled last time (it may have had something to do with the thunderstorm raging over here) so if it still does not work, I can only suggest you open a new window on your browser and type the whole link directly into your browser as the url and hopefully it should open.
