Hello All, I was researching the value of my motorcycle and came upon this website. It is apparent the folks on this website appreciate their machines. Back in '92, I entered a Honda dealership in the Chicago suburbs with the intent of buying a CBR 600. At the end of the streetbike line was a 1986 vf1000r. I inquired about the history of this bike and the salesman explained that this was the 3rd "crate" bike his boss acquired from a North Carolina dealer. His boss bought all 3 in the box (never assembled) and brought them back to Chicago. This was the last one for sale after only 1 week. I had my 1990 CR250 in tow for trading at the time as my current job out of school didn't lend itself to dirt riding anymore. Needless to say, the Interceptor looked awfully good in new condition in '92 as I had always wanted one after they came out '85. I bought it and unfortunately didn't get to ride it much as my work required 100% travel. It has been stored and ridden occasionly over the past 15 years. It only has 3,345 miles on it. I keep the battery charged and ride around the country roads periodically, but that is it. The only non-stock part is the rear tire, (+batteries) which I replaced in 1996. It is garage kept and in very good condition. I always knew the bike was different and always receive favorable comments and 2nd looks. I'm married with 2 kids now and am thinking of parting with it. Was looking for some advice on how best to go about that? Mike
I bet you'll regret it if you do. It won't bring a tremendous amount of money but if you really have to sell it, you can list it here, vfrdiscussion.com, your local craigslist, or maybe even ebay. There is also cycletrader.com. Good luck.
Mike - you have a very fine ride there in almost new condition. I dont think Honda made very many 1000s so you should be able to get a good price. Any photos? Now if I had some extra garage space..... MD
