    Gday all, I'm Tom.

I just put a deposit on a 2015 VFR800 - awaiting the finer details to be sorted out but hoping to take delivery in the next week or so.

I've only spent a grand total of about 25mins on a VFR - loved the way they both rode, and the looks are captivating. Can't wait to hit the road on it!

Hi Mrgrumpy! Welcome to a crazy land of crazy people.

Did you consider the VFR1200? Did you consider a used vehicle vs. new? What color are you getting? Purchasing a new VFR I would be pretty sure that you have a history of riding. What do you own today and previously?

It was a good decision to join us right away. As you can see this group can probably provide good advise on any options you are considering.

Australia must be a spectacular ride.

I haven't ventured in to much of Australia at all on a bike. There are so many good rides within a few hours of where I live that I don't need to go too far - some of us are very lucky!

I considered the 1200 but need something that's small enough to commute on, didnt want the extra running costs of the larger bike, and the looks don't do much for me. I almost bought a used 2015 (they are as rare as hens teeth!) but it sold before I could get to it (I have been out of the country). The dealer offered me a brand new one for only $600 more than the used one and I took it.

I have only a short history of riding. I got my license for the first time at 30 years old - that was April last year. I rode my restricted class bike virtually every day since and have racked up over 20,000km. Got my unrestricted license in April this year. My list of previous bikes is as follows: 2009 Honda CB400.

I fell in love with the vfr800 on my first group ride I ever did - one guy had an older model, maybe late 90s. I was captivated by the sound, the looks and the passion with which this guy talked about his bike. I discovered the 8th gen not long after and instantly fell in love with it!

    As for colour - red!

I am 44 and bought my very first bike, the VFR, last spring as well. You already have a LOT of miles on me! We have no restrictions on the first bike like you do. The CB400 sounds like a blast!
