Hi, my name is David. I've been riding motorcycles for about 8 years and have gone through four bikes in that time. The latest bike (and what brings me here) is a 1998 5th Gen which I've owned for a little over a year now. It is hands down the best ride I've ever owned. Since I got the bike I have done the usual R1 rectifier mod, replaced the stator with an aftermarket ricks unit and pretty much rewired the entire charging system. On top of the electrical work I also removed, cleaned, and regreased the swing arm and installed a set of superlite sprokets (love them) and an EK drive chain. The rest has been basic maintenance: brake pads, fluid, plugs, tires...oh yeah and a valve check. That one wasn't the most fun. Luckily none of the valves needed an adjustment. Anyways the bike has been very reliable other than the charging system going out and an FI code here or there (loose connection at ecm). Now that I'm up to date on all of my maintenance, she is one hell of a ride. Anyways I've lurked around this forum long enough to know that pictures are expected so here ya go 058.jpg 056.jpg 055.jpg 005.jpg

Thanks for the welcoming words guys. Randy read the odometer right but that pic is a couple months old. It's got a little over 136,000 miles now. The guy I bought it from was on this forum (I wish I knew his forum name) and VFRD. Anyways he got it at around 6000 miles and kept it for about a decade before selling it to me at 123,xxx miles. He rode it every day and I continued his trend. Most of my riding buddies thought I was crazy buying a sport bike with that high of mileage but I had done my research and heard how bullet proof these bikes are (I hope I can get it up to 150,000 before this year is out). Btw all of the credit for that micron high mount goes to the previous owner. He also did the cbr 929 shock mod which I've come to appreciate.
